Celebrate Your Soul
Celebrate your soul, your unique collective whole.
"God is an Artist. This is the God who made you. The same God who lives inside you.
He comes into us, then comes out of us, in a million little ways."
-Emily P Freeman, A Million Little Ways
Today, August 4th, is my birthday. I am 33.
For today and just for fun I am sharing a poem or two and a passage that reflect a little bit of me.
Some lines from the poem My Wife by Robert Louis Stevenson: because being a wife is a favorite role of mine! and I love Robert Louis Stevenson's poetry too.
He wrote the poem for his wife, and it's sweet.
"Teacher, tender, comrade, wife, A fellow-farer true through life, Heart-whole and soul-free The august father Gave to me."
Psalms 84: Because my birth date is "8/4" and I love this Psalms. Also, one year my birthday fell on a Sunday. My Dad came back from church that day and told me the pastor preached on Psalm 84, and how it reminded my Dad of me and my Birthday 8/4. It's just a special chapter to me!
How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord Almighty!2 My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord;my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. 3 Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young— a place near your altar, Lord Almighty, my King and my God. 4 Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.[c] 5 Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. 6 As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools.[d] 7 They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion. 8 Hear my prayer, Lord God Almighty; listen to me, God of Jacob. 9 Look on our shield,[e] O God; look with favor on your anointed one. 10 Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. 11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. 12 Lord Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you.
And because my name (Melissa) means honeybee and I love flowers:
"I have a garden of my own, Shining with flow'rs of ev'ry hue; I loved it dearly while alone, But I shall love it more with you; And there the golden bees shall come..."
-from the poem Child's Song by Thomas Moore
I hope you are reminded today, and feel this truth: that you are fearfully and wonderfully made.
Love and Hope in Christ
