Weekend Care Package

family crest: a possible weekend art project

If you love to paint but have trouble drawing here's an art project that might work for you. This week I used thegraphicsfairy.com to collect vintage images that represent the names in my family. I made the images the size I needed, printed them out, arranged them, traced them, and painted them. It felt a little like putting together a collage. Then I added some ink with my nib, but a black pen would do the trick.

The olive branch is for Oliver and Jeff. Jeff means God peace, and extending an olive branch is a symbol for offering peace.

The honeybee for my name. Melissa means honeybee.

The magnolia for our gentle dog Maggie

The deer and castle for Hirshburg; Hirsh can mean male deer, and burg means castle

Extra; Use lettering or calligraphy to add a scripture to the art piece. For example here are a few I might like to add;

He makes my feet like the feet of a deer;
he causes me to stand on the heights.
— 2 Samuel 22:34
Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
— Proverbs 16:24
The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
— 2 Samuel 22:2
But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever.
— Psalms 52:8
