Milestones and First Marks

Let’s start at the very beginning
A very good place to start
When you read you begin with A-B-C
When you sing you begin with do-re-mi

Today I dropped off Oliver for his first full day of pre-k. A mothering milestone.

Yesterday we watched a solar eclipse in the sky; marking the last day of Summer with a special memory.

And now next to my desk a stack of blank canvases await the first mark. 

The fresh start,

the new morning mercies,

and the blank canvas are on my list of favorites.

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things

And I'm not feeling bad or sad at the moment but when met with discouragement I remember this; a favorite verse

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,

Maria spins, suitcase soaring through the air. She has set out for her new nanny/governess job by dancing and singing in the streets. -The Sound of Music.

The momentum of the fears, tears, or finally heres! the excitement of the new becomes a song;  a new relationship, new school year, a new plan, a new job, or simply a new day.

He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in him.
