Hello Hannah; God Sees and Hears and Remembers

There is none holy like the Lord:
for there is none besides you;
there is no rock like our God.
1 Samuel 2:2
— And Hannah prayed

And Hannah thought about the heavenly

the transcedent

the holy

the invisible

God

and

with her feet also grounded in this earthly life

she thought about the daily, the quotidian needs of her son Samuel.

Samuel was ministering before the Lord, a boy clothed with a linen ephod. And his mother used to make for him a little robe and take it to him each year when she went up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.
1 Samuel 2:18-19
— And Hannah took care of simple needs

He is the God who sees, remembers, and hears us.

He hears our heart song.

He sees our small acts of service.

And he hears it with adoration and compassion.

And he sees it as beautiful.

And he remembers both our song and our service.

It's golden hour here; up in my art room. Sunlight streaming and slipping by white blinds onto my Bible pages, my ponytail, my keyboard, my wedding ring, my paintbrushes.

I listen to Christa Wells's song One Day from her album Velveteen.

You’re doing one day, one breath, one prayer
One thing at a time
One word, one step, one hope
In a coming light
Don’t try to swallow the ocean
Keep doing one day
’Til one day you’re free
— Christa Wells sings

one shirt folded,

one dish cleaned,

one small act seen

by God

one prayer before bedtime

one prayer after dawn

a prayer of praise

a prayer of need
